Last Minute DraftKings Fantasy Football Advice: Week 9

Look at Alex Smith

At 11.4 percent of your cap, Smith is a solid play against a New York Jets defense that simply doesn't have the necessary target in the secondary to put compete on a consistent basis. Rex Ryan's squad ranks dead last in the NFL against fantasy quarterbacks and has allowed 22 passing touchdowns compared to one interception. Just think about that last statistics for a second, especially considering Smith doesn't turn the ball over. Smith has also thrown eight touchdowns compared to one interception in his last four games. As the 20th-most expensive quarterback, Smith represents top-10 value here.

Avoid Top-Tier Running Backs, if at all Possible

DeMarco Murray comes in as the second-most expensive running back this week (18 percent of your cap). And while he's going to against a studly Arizona Cardinals defense that ranks first in the NFL against fantasy running backs, I still wouldn't worry too much about his fantasy production. With Tony Romo ailing from fractured bones in his back, the Cowboys will rely more on Murray Sunday. Even if Romo goes, there is no reason to believe Murray will be led to less than 100 yards and a score in this game. He's still a legit top-tier fantasy option.

I am more worried about Le'Veon Bell going up against a Baltimore Ravens defense that has allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to running backs but has been torched in the passing game. And considering Ben Roethlisberger is coming off a record-setting performance, there is reason to believe he will continued to go to the air consistently. At 14 percent of your cap, avoid Bell.

Arian Foster is also someone to think about benching. While he's playing at an elite level right now, you have to factor into the account the way this game against the Philadelphia Eagles is likely going to turn out. Houston will have to put the ball in the air to win this game, which may very well limit the opportunities Foster gets in the ground game.

While Foster is still going to be a top-five running back this week, why not go with someone like Jamaal Charles or Marshawn Lynch at cheaper prices with higher upside?

At $4,000 (Eight Percent), Jeremy Hill is a Must Play

With Giovani Bernard out of action in this one, Hill becomes a fantasy stud against a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that is yielding an average of 143.5 total yards to opposing running backs this season and ranks 28th against fantasy running backs on the season. There is little reason to believe Hill won't put up RB2 numbers here.

Jeremy Maclin is a PPR Stud

Look for Maclin to reach near double-digit receptions in this one, especially considering that he will be lining up against a Texans defense that is 30th in the NFL against fantasy receivers. At 15.2 percent of your cap, he's a cheaper alternative to the likes of Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant
