Over the past week, we saw two top-end wide receivers go down with torn ACL's. First it was Carolina Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin who suffered the injury in practice last week. Then, in the Green Bay Packers meaningless preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Pro Bowler Jordy Nelson went down with the same injury.
While these two are the most-notable players to go down for the season with this serious knee injury, there have been countless others go down.
Let's hope the final two weeks of the preseason yield much better results for teams around the NFL. The idea of losing impact players in meaningless preseason games has to be among the most bitter of pills for coaches and front offices to swallow.
It's no fun for the fans either.
