It's "extension week" across the NFL, as Eli Manning, Luke Kuechly and Marcell Dareus have all cashed in with big extensions. Now add A.J. Green to the list of players to load up their bank account, after agreeing to a four-year extension with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Green was in the last year of his rookie contract, set to make nearly $10.2 million this season. The deal comes roughly two months after Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant signed their extensions, putting them amongst the three highest-paid receivers. Of course, there extensions have now been surpassed by Julio Jones and now Green.
The 27-year-old Green continues to show year after year why he is one of the best receivers in the game, despite some inconsitent play from Andy Dalton. In 60 career games, Green has posted 4,874 receiving yards and 35 touchdowns over that span, posting consecutive 10-plus touchdown seasons in 2012 and '13.
An upcoming wide receiver free agent market of Bryant, Green, Thomas and Jones has quickly evaporated into just having Alshon Jeffery as the standout name. Though it should only be a matter of time before the Bears extend their best player on offense.
Oh and no, wins are not a wide receiver statistic or a player statistic for that matter.
