Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford suffered a Grade 2 AC joint sprain in his non-throwing shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins. He also apparently suffered a concussion in the disappointing Eagles performance.
The good news here is that the sprain was to his non-throwing shoulder, which will likely shorten his recovery time. The bad news is that Philadelphia will likely have to rely on Mark Sanchez for at least one week.
In addition to the natural recovery time that comes with suffering a shoulder sprain, Bradford will have to pass through the NFL's concussion protocol to return to the field. As we have seen multiple times this year, concussions are no longer a one-week recovery time. We have seen a ton of players miss multiple weeks with said injury.
Though, the AC sprain has to be a bit more alarming here.
Sanchez replaced Bradford in the lineup on Sunday, throwing a costly late-game interception.
With games coming up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions, the 4-5 Eagles might be able to tread water over the short term. After that, they take on the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Arizona Cardinals. If all hands are not on deck then, it could spell and end to the Eagles' playoff hopes.
