Redskins 22, Cardinals 21

Rex Grossman passed for 291 yards and a pair of touchdowns and the Washington Redskins recovered a fumble with 1:39 remaining in the fourth quarter to seal a 22-21 victory over the visiting Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Former Cardinal Tim Hightower rushed for 96 yards on 20 carries and tight end Fred Davis made six catches for 86 yards and a score for the Redskins (2-0), who dominated time of possession and committed only two penalties for 10 yards.

Arizona (1-1) looked as though it had the game in hand when Kevin Kolb found Larry Fitzgerald for a 73-yard touchdown to give the Cardinals a 21-13 lead with 11:09 left.

Grossman, who had thrown a pair of interceptions earlier in the game, calmly led Washington on a 13-play, 73-yard drive over the next 5:35.

Grossman’s 18-yard touchdown pass to Santana Moss pulled the Redskins to within 21-19. A two-point conversion failed, but Washington forced a three-and-out to get the ball back.

Grossman went 4 of 5 on the ensuing drive and Graham Gano’s 36-yard field goal gave the Redskins the lead.

Arizona had one last chance, with the ball on their own 20-yard line and 1:39 on the clock. Kolb found Chansi Stuckey with his first pass but Byron Westbrook forced a fumble and Reed Doughty recovered to seal it.
