Golden Knights at Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes aim for their first home victory of January when they host the Western Conference-leading Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday. Carolina has followed a six-game winning streak at PNC Arena, which included a 5-0 mark in December, by going 0-2-1 there this month.
The Hurricanes returned from their bye week on Saturday to post a 3-1 triumph at Detroit as Elias Lindholm scored twice on the power play to pull even with Jeff Skinner for second on the team with 14 goals. Vegas is wrapping up a four-game road trip during which it has gone 1-1-1 following Friday's 4-3 overtime loss at Florida. William Karlsson increased his team-leading - and career-high - goal total to 25 with his fifth in six games while All-Star James Neal also scored to hit the 20-tally mark for the 10th time in his 10-season NHL career last time out. Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to be in net against Carolina after backup Malcolm Subban had his seven-game winning streak halted on Saturday.

ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS (30-11-4): Jonathan Marchessault, who leads the team with 42 points, has been kept off the scoresheet in two of his last three games. The 27-year-old forward notched at least one point in 10 of his previous 11 contests and hasn't been blanked in back-to-back games since Dec. 12 and 14. Neal is the sixth active player - and 135th in league history - to score 20 goals in all 10 of his seasons in the NHL.
ABOUT THE HURRICANES (21-17-8): Lindholm made the most of his chance to fill in for the injured Sebastian Aho on the top line Saturday, registering his first two-goal performance since Jan. 8, 2016 versus Columbus. The 20-year-old Aho, who leads the team in goals (16) and points (37), missed the first game of his brief NHL career due to a concussion and a knee injury. Veteran Justin Williams scored his first goal since Dec. 15 on Saturday, ending his 14-game drought.
