Ducks at Canucks

The Anaheim Ducks began their current 5-0-1 stretch by continuing their run of good fortune versus the Vancouver Canucks. The Ducks bid for their fifth consecutive win over the Canucks on Tuesday when they conclude their four-game road trip in British Columbia.

John Gibson turned aside all 32 shots he faced in Anaheim's 3-0 victory versus Vancouver on March 14 as part of his sizzling 13-3-2 mark since the All-Star break. The 24-year-old picked up his latest win thanks to a feverish surge from his teammates, as Adam Henrique capped a two-goal performance late in regulation and defenseman Hampus Lindholm scored 1:21 into overtime in Sunday's 5-4 triumph over Edmonton. While Anaheim is attempting to fend off Los Angeles for third place in the Pacific, Vancouver's bid for a postseason berth officially ended earlier this week with the team struggling to locate its offense. The sputtering Canucks mustered just seven goals during a seven-game losing skid before erupting for 10 en route to winning two of their last three contests.

ABOUT THE DUCKS (39-24-13): Anaheim's sluggish starts have been a cause of concern for coach Randy Carlyle, so much so that he lashed out at the club despite its most recent victory. "We've played a couple of games in the last little while where we seem to be in some sort of a funk," Carlyle told reporters. "We think we're working and we're not working; our passing is not on, we're not playing fast enough. We're not physically and emotionally involved in the game, and (Sunday) was two periods of that." Rickard Rakell and Corey Perry have been consistent point producers, with the former collecting 17 (nine goals, eight assists) in his last 13 games while the latter has 13 (five goals, eight assists) in that same stretch.

ABOUT THE CANUCKS (27-40-9): Vancouver's sluggish power play received an unexpected jolt in Sunday's 4-1 win over reeling Dallas as Reid Boucher and Nic Dowd scored, marking the third goal of the season for both forwards and just the second game in the last 11 contests that the Canucks have scored with the man advantage. "We were short a guy, and (Dowd) jumped on the ice," coach Travis Green told reporters. "I think I was yelling at him for going out there, and then yelling at him for scoring." Vancouver has done decidedly better while short-handed, thwarting all 13 opportunities over the last four games.
