Hurricanes at Islanders

Jordan Martinook put on an offensive display to help the Carolina Hurricanes conclude their season-high six-game homestand with a third consecutive victory. The 26-year-old left wing hopes for a repeat performance when the Hurricanes visit the New York Islanders on Saturday.

Martinook ended an eight-game goal-scoring drought with his first career hat trick as Carolina rolled past Florida 4-1 on Friday to finish at 4-1-1 on its homestand. Martinook, acquired from Arizona in May, already has eclipsed the goal total he recorded in 81 games last season (six) and is four away from matching the career high of 11 he set in 2016-17. New York avoided a third straight setback Friday, posting a 4-3 overtime victory in New Jersey after squandering a lead with 11 seconds remaining in the third period. Reigning Calder Trophy winner Mathew Barzal scored the winning goal at 3:40 of the extra session, giving him two tallies and five assists in his last seven contests.
