Blues at Flames

THE STORY: The Calgary Flames have yet to win consecutive games this season. They'll have the chance to do so Friday when they host the red-hot St. Louis Blues. Calgary, which posted a 4-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday, looks to avenge a 5-2 road loss to the Blues on Oct. 10. The Flames also are trying to improve to 3-1-1 on their six-game homestand. However, they're running into a St. Louis team which has won three straight and is 2-0-0 on its four-game road trip. The Blues became the ninth franchise to reach the 1,500-victory mark when they posted a 3-0 triumph over the reigning Western Conference champion Canucks in Vancouver on Wednesday.

ABOUT THE BLUES (5-4-0): Brian Elliott has been strong in goal since replacing Jaroslav Halak during a 5-0 road loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Oct. 18, going 3-0-0 with one shutout and a 1.30 goals-against average in three starts. Overall this season, Elliott is 4-0-0 with a 1.59 GAA in five contests. Halak has gotten off to a horrible start, posting a 1-4-0 record and .835 save percentage in five starts.

ABOUT THE FLAMES (3-4-1): Miikka Kiprusoff has had the Blues' number over his career. In 27 games, including one relief appearance, Kiprusoff is 19-5-2 with three shutouts and a 1.94 GAA against St. Louis. Captain Jarome Iginla also has enjoyed facing the Blues. The former Art Ross Trophy winner has collected 27 goals and 68 points in 57 career contests. Calgary has won nine of its last 12 home meetings.

OVERTIME:

1. Calgary outscored St. Louis 14-3 while sweeping their four-game series last season. But the Blues rolled to a 5-2 victory at home in their first meeting of 2011-12 on Oct. 10.

2. St. Louis enters with the worst power play in the league as it has converted just 6.7 percent (2-for-30) of its opportunities this season.
