Canadiens 3, Coyotes 2 (OT)

Josh Gorges' goal 1:45 into overtime propelled Montreal to a 3-2 triumph over host Phoenix on Thursday night, extending the Canadiens' unbeaten streak against the Coyotes to 13 games.

Moments after Yannick Weber hit the post in the extra session, Gorges finished things off with a blast from the slot that eluded Phoenix netminder Mike Smith.

The victory gives the Canadiens 10 wins and three ties in their last 13 encounters with the Coyotes, who haven't prevailed in the head-to-head series since Dec. 9, 1998.

Trailing 1-0 on a Mikkel Boedker goal 5:43 into the first period, the Canadiens pulled even early in the second after Brian Gionta forced a Phoenix turnover before converting a wraparound that beat Smith.

Travis Moen gave Montreal its first lead with 2:14 remaining in the frame, wiring a Gionta feed into the top corner for his fifth goal of the season.

Raffi Torres made it a 2-2 game early in the third period, beating Canadiens defenseman Raphael Diaz to the front of the net before shoveling a rebound past Montreal netminder Carey Price.
