Devils at Bruins

THE STORY: The New Jersey Devils have the unenviable task of trying to slow down an offense firing on all cylinders when they visit the red-hot Boston Bruins on Tuesday. Boston enters with a five-game winning streak during which it has lit up opposing goaltenders. The Bruins, who are 3-0-0 on their five-game homestand, have scored at least five goals in each contest - and a total of 30 - during their winning stretch. New Jersey has won four of its last five matches, including a 3-2 shootout triumph at Washington on Saturday in the opener of its five-game road trip. The Devils could get back superstar left wing Ilya Kovalchuk, who has missed four games with a lower body injury.

TV: 7 p.m. ET, MSG Plus 2 (New Jersey), NESN (Boston).

ABOUT THE DEVILS (8-6-1):
Patrik Elias enters with a seven-game point streak during which he has collected eight points. His run is tied for the longest in the league this season. Elias has been kept off the scoresheet only twice in 15 contests this campaign. New Jersey has lost four of its last five meetings with the Bruins. Each of the Devils' last five victories over Boston have been by one goal.

ABOUT THE BRUINS (8-7-0): Boston dodged a bullet Monday as Milan Lucic was not suspended for his hit on Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller in Saturday's 6-2 victory. Lucic earned a minor penalty for charging when he flattened Miller, who suffered a concussion on the play, but came away from his discipline hearing with NHL Senior Vice President of Player Safety and Hockey Operations Brendan Shanahan unscathed. "While it's unfortunate that Miller was hurt, I saw nothing egregious about this hit that would elevate it to supplemental discipline," Shanahan said. Tyler Seguin has been on fire, tallying seven times during his four-game goal-scoring streak and notching 11 points during a six-game run.

OVERTIME:

1. Seguin has scored 11 goals in 15 games this season. The 19-year old totaled 11 tallies in 74 contests as a rookie in 2010-11.

2. New Jersey registered a total of two goals in its three losses to Boston last campaign.
