Flames at Blues

THE STORY: The Calgary Flames continue their road trip against a familiar opponent as they take on the St. Louis Blues on Friday. Calgary, which is 0-2-0 on its four-game trek, will be facing St. Louis for the third time this season. Each team has won at home, where the Blues have captured seven of their last nine. St. Louis has excelled under new coach Ken Hitchcock, earning at least one point in seven of eight contests (5-1-2). The Flames have lost five of their last seven games but have won five of six meetings with the Blues.

ABOUT THE FLAMES (8-11-1): Miikka Kiprusoff has dominated St. Louis over his career, going 20-5-2 with three shutouts and a 1.91 goals-against average. Captain Jarome Iginla scored a goal in Wednesday's 5-3 loss at Detroit, but it was just his sixth in 20 games this season. Iginla, who tallied 43 times last campaign, has notched only 10 points in 2011-12. The 34-year-old has performed well against the Blues over his career, registering 68 points in 58 contests.

ABOUT THE BLUES (11-8-2): Brian Elliott has been a savior for St. Louis considering Jaroslav Halak's struggles. Elliott has posted an 8-1-0 record with two shutouts in 10 games, including one relief appearance. The 26-year old, who has not allowed more than two goals in a contest, leads the league in GAA (1.48) and save percentage (.946). Halak is just 3-7-2 with an .895 save percentage in 12 starts. Elliott has not fared well against Calgary, however, going 1-3-0 in five career outings. The Blues kept Sidney Crosby off the scoresheet in their 3-2 victory over Pittsburgh on Wednesday after the Penguins captain collected four points against the New York Islanders in his first game back from his concussion. St. Louis is one of four teams against whom Crosby has yet to score.

OVERTIME:

1. Calgary is one of two teams yet to participate in a shootout this season. The other club is the Detroit Red Wings.

2. The Blues have lost nine of their last 12 home meetings with the Flames and 21 of the last 28 overall in the all-time series.
