Jets at Bruins

THE STORY:
The Boston Bruins finally saw their 10-game winning streak come to a halt in Friday’s 3-2 shootout loss to the visiting Detroit Red Wings. Still, the Bruins have points in 11 consecutive contests and will look to start another winning streak against a team that has lost in its last eight trips to Boston. However, the Winnipeg Jets are also on a bit of a roll as they prepare to invade TD Garden on Saturday night, having gone 4-0-1 in their last five games. Boston was a perfect 10-0-0 in November prior to Friday’s nationally televised loss and fell for the first time since absorbing a 4-2 loss in Montreal on Oct. 29. The Jets had dropped five consecutive road decisions (0-3-2) this month before snapping the skid with a 3-1 victory at the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.

ABOUT THE JETS (9-9-4): Winnipeg moved to the .500 mark for the first time this season with its first road victory since Nov. 3. Captain Andrew Ladd had a goal to extend his points streak to five games and Evander Kane scored his team-high ninth goal. Bryan Little’s empty-net tally gave him four goals in his last three games. G Ondrej Pavelec had started 13 straight games before getting Friday off. He won two of five decisions with a 3.74 GAA against the Bruins.

ABOUT THE BRUINS (13-8-0): Tim Thomas should be back in goal after sitting out Friday. The reigning Vezina Trophy winner is riding a seven-game winning streak that included three shutouts. Patrice Bergeron’s third-period goal Friday extended the game past regulation and gave him five tallies and 15 points in his last 15 games. Nathan Horton has nine points in as many games after assisting on Daniel Paille’s goal. Horton also scored in the shootout. Five of Boston’s last six have been decided by one goal.

OVERTIME:

1. Thomas became the first goalie since Toronto’s Ed Belfour in 2003-04 to notch three straight road shutouts.

2. Winnipeg has won just three of its last 16 meetings with the Bruins.
