Senators at Kings

THE STORY: Not even the road has been able to slow down the Ottawa Senators. However, a trip to Los Angeles could prove to do the trick. The Senators try for a rare victory in the City of Angels when they face off against the Kings on Monday at the Staples Center. Ottawa, which is 2-1-0 on its six-game road trip, has won five of six away from home and earned a point in 11 of 12 (7-1-4). But it has lost each of its last four visits to Los Angeles and is 1-10-1 in 12 all-time road games against the Kings. Los Angeles has dropped three straight in its own building and is 0-1-1 on its four-game homestand. The Kings have struggled offensively at the Staples Center, scoring less than two goals in five of their last seven.

ABOUT THE SENATORS (27-17-6): In addition to their struggles in Los Angeles, the Senators have won only two of their last 11 overall meetings with the Kings (2-8-1). Two players hit milestones in Saturday's loss at Anaheim as captain Daniel Alfredsson played in his 1,100th career game and enforcer Chris Neil skated in his 700th contest. Both have spent their entire careers with Ottawa. Stephane Da Costa was assigned to Binghamton of the AHL on Sunday, only two days after being recalled. The center, who did not dress for Saturday's contest, recorded three goals and two assists in 22 games with Ottawa earlier this season.

ABOUT THE KINGS (23-16-10): Los Angeles ranks fifth overall in the league in penalty killing with an 86.7 percent success rate. But it has allowed at least one power-play goal in each of its last six games. Justin Williams enters Monday's contest with a seven-game points streak during which he has recorded three goals and six assists. Anze Kopitar has performed almost as well in that span, collecting four tallies and eight points over his last seven matches.

OVERTIME:

1. The Kings have earned at least one point in 14 of their 16 games under new coach Darryl Sutter (8-2-6).

2. Ottawa's Craig Anderson is only 1-5-3 with an .870 save percentage in 10 career meetings with Los Angeles.
