Avalanche at Blues

THE STORY: The St. Louis Blues capped a three-game road trip with successive victories. Now, Ken Hitchcock's club returns to the Gateway City, where it has posted an impressive 22-3-4 mark this season. The Blues will look to continue their winning ways on Saturday when they host the Colorado Avalanche. For its part, Colorado won its second straight with a 4-3 overtime win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday. The Avalanche sits just one point behind the eighth-place Phoenix Coyotes in the ultra-competitive Western Conference standings.

ABOUT THE AVALANCHE (28-25-3): While Ryan O'Reilly scored 4:58 into overtime to send the Pepsi Center into a frenzy on Friday, Colorado fans have been impressed with the line featuring captain Milan Hejduk, David Jones and Paul Stastny. The trio has collected 11 points over the last two games. By competing in his 968th game on Saturday, Hejduk will tie Adam Foote for second place in franchise history. The legendary Joe Sakic holds the top spot by playing in 1,378 contests.

ABOUT THE BLUES (32-14-7): Veteran C Jason Arnott was placed on injured reserve Friday with a shoulder injury. The 37-year-old suffered the injury against Los Angeles on Feb. 3. Speaking of veterans, C Andy McDonald may return to the lineup for Sunday's tilt versus the San Jose Sharks. McDonald, 34, has been sidelined with a concussion since Oct. 13. RW Chris Stewart snapped an 11-game scoring drought by netting his 11th goal of the season in Thursday's 4-3 win over New Jersey.

OVERTIME:

1. Colorado has struggled in the latter half of back-to-back tilts this season. The Avalanche have won just two of six such occasions.

2. Second overall pick Gabriel Landeskog has scored in two straight contests, but has been held off the scoresheet in three matches versus St. Louis this season.
