Devils at Hurricanes
The Carolina Hurricanes look to complete a sweep of the home-and-home series when they host the struggling New Jersey Devils on Friday. Carolina extended its point streak to three games with a 4-3 victory at New Jersey on Wednesday. Patrick Dwyer extended his goal-scoring run to three games with a short-handed tally that proved to be the winner as the Hurricanes scored four goals for the second straight contest after failing to reach the plateau in 14 consecutive games.
The loss was the third in a row for New Jersey, which has scored a total of five goals during the slide. Defenseman Andy Greene recorded a goal and an assist as the Devils were defeated at home for the third time in four contests. Jaromir Jagr added his 691st career goal, moving him past former teammate Mario Lemieux for ninth place on the all-time list.

ABOUT THE DEVILS (9-11-5): Jagr's next goal will move him into a tie with Steve Yzerman for eighth place in NHL history. The future Hall-of-Famer needs three tallies to pull even with Mark Messier for seventh. "It's a great accomplishment for a great player and a great guy," coach Peter DeBoer said of Jagr passing Lemieux.
ABOUT THE HURRICANES (10-10-5): Cam Ward made a highlight-reel save on New Jersey's Adam Henrique late in the third period on Wednesday, snaring the puck with his glove while sprawling to the ice. The stop surprised many and shocked Henrique, who sported a look of disbelief. "It was funny to see the reaction because I think everyone thought it went in, and quietly inside I knew it was in my glove," Ward said. "I was just on my back, so it was very difficult for me to get up, so it was desperation."
