Coyotes at Flames
The Phoenix Coyotes attempt to complete a sweep of Alberta when they visit the Calgary Flames on Wednesday. Phoenix began its four-game road trip with a convincing 6-2 victory over Edmonton on Tuesday, with Mike Ribeiro and Mikkel Boedker recording a goal and two assists apiece. Captain Shane Doan, Radim Vrbata and David Moss each scored a goal and set up another as the Coyotes won for just the second time in six contests (2-3-1).
Calgary returns home after splitting a pair of games in Southern California. After dropping a 5-2 decision at Anaheim on Friday, the Flames edged Los Angeles 2-1 the following night. Justin Williams forged a tie with 4:33 remaining, but former King Mike Cammalleri tallied with 23 seconds remaining as Calgary improved to 3-7-2 in its last 12 contests.

ABOUT THE COYOTES (16-7-4): The first meeting between the teams on Oct. 22 was a memorable one as Mike Smith became the 11th goaltender in NHL history to be credited with a goal. Ribeiro also scored twice in the 4-2 victory in Phoenix, snapping a deadlock with 5:47 remaining in the third period. Defenseman Zbynek Michalek (lower body) skated for 30 minutes on Tuesday while right wing Lauri Korpikoski (upper body) participated in practice.
ABOUT THE FLAMES (9-13-4): Calgary could get back its captain Wednesday, as Mark Giordano took part in full-contact drills during Tuesday's practice. The defenseman has missed 18 games with a broken ankle suffered on Oct. 21 versus Los Angeles. "It's pain-free right now, which is obviously a positive, and I feel good," Giordano told reporters. "We'll see how it feels (Wednesday), but it felt real good."
OVERTIME
1. Flames G Karri Ramo will make his second straight start.
2. Vrbata has collected three goals and four assists during his five-game point streak.
3. Smith allowed three or more goals in a career-high six consecutive games before defeating Edmonton on Tuesday.
