Canucks at Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers look to extend their point streak to six games when they host the Pacific Division-rival Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. Edmonton improved to 4-0-1 over its last five contests by posting a 3-1 home triumph over Los Angeles on Thursday despite the fifth scoreless performance in eight games by Connor McDavid.

The 19-year-old captain, who shares the league scoring lead of 42 points with Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby, has recorded only one goal and three assists in that span and has netted two tallies in his last 13 contests. McDavid did score in Vancouver on Oct. 28 and Milan Lucic notched a goal and an assist while Cam Talbot made 26 saves en route to a 2-0 shutout. The Canucks are looking to post three straight victories for the first time since opening the season with a four-game winning streak after rallying from a two-goal deficit Friday to record a 3-2 overtime triumph over Anaheim. Captain Henrik Sedin scored the winner in the extra session to pull within one goal of team co-leaders Bo Horvat and Daniel Sedin (10 apiece).

ABOUT THE CANUCKS (16-18-3): Alex Burrows became the sixth player to appear in 800 games for Vancouver on Friday, joining the Sedins, Trevor Linden, Stan Smyl and Markus Naslund. The 35-year-old Burrows needs eight goals to pass Thomas Gradin (197) for eighth place on the franchise list and 10 to join seven others in the team's 200-goal club. Henrik Sedin, who is the franchise's all-time leading scorer, is seven points away from 1,000 for his career.

ABOUT THE OILERS (19-12-6): Edmonton made a move to bolster its blue line Friday, recalling Jordan Oesterle from Bakersfield of the American Hockey League. The 24-year-old Oesterle has registered three goals and five assists in 14 games with the Condors this season while recording six assists in 23 contests for the Oilers over the previous two campaigns. Mark Fayne, who has appeared in only four games in 2016-17, was activated from injured reserve and assigned to Bakersfield.
