Canucks 4, Islanders 3 (SO)

Ryan Kesler scored in the final round of the shootout to lift the surging Vancouver Canucks to a victory over the host New York Islanders on Tuesday night.

Kevin Bieska’s unassisted goal with just over five minutes remaining in regulation pulled Vancouver into a tie, and Kesler and Mason Raymond scored in the shootout.

The Canucks (28-8-6) have not lost a game in regulation since Dec. 5 vs. St. Louis and have at least one point in 17 straight games. They have 11 regulation wins, one overtime win and two shootout wins in that span.

Alexander Burrows opened the scoring for Vancouver with his ninth goal of the season early in the first period.

New York's Jack Hillen and Kesler traded second-period goals before the Islanders took the lead in the third period.

A power-play goal by John Tavares and Blake Comeau’s 11th goal of the season gave the Islanders a 3-2 edge with 5:36 to play. However, Bieska struck just 34 seconds later.

Roberto Luongo made 38 saves for Vancouver while rookie Kevin Poulin stopped 48 shots for New York (13-21-7).
