Canadiens 2, Rangers 1

Benoit Pouliot’s goal early in the third period snapped a tie and lifted the Montreal Canadiens to a 2-1 road victory over the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.

Alex Auld stopped 25 shots to notch the win for the Canadiens, who have won three straight games. The Rangers (25-16-3) had their three-game winning streak snapped.

New York took a 1-0 lead when Brandon Dubinsky netted his 17th goal of the season early in the first period. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist assisted on the tally, his third straight game with a helper.

But Montreal (24-16-3) tied it on a goal by Jaroslav Spacek late in the second period. Pouliot scored the game-winner at the 6:13 mark of the third period, assisted by newly acquired defenseman James Wisniewski.

Lundqvist made 36 saves.
