Blues 3, Kings 1

Ryan Reaves scored for the second time in as many days and Jaroslav Halak turned aside 24 shots as the visiting St. Louis Blues skated to a 3-1 triumph over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

Alex Steen netted his team-leading 15th goal of the season and B.J. Crombeen also tallied as St. Louis (21-16-6) snapped a five-game losing streak.

With the score tied at 1-1 with 5:44 remaining in the second period, Chris Porter's shot was denied by Jonathan Quick, but Reaves tucked the puck past the netminder for his second goal in four NHL games.

Steen provided insurance just over 4 1/2 minutes later to give St. Louis a 3-1 advantage.

Halak did the rest from there by keeping the Kings off the scoreboard to snap a personal three-game losing skid and improve to 16-13-4 this season.

Michal Handzus leveled the contest at 1-1 with his seventh tally at 5:37 of the second period for Los Angeles (23-19-1), which fell for the fifth time in six games.

Quick finished with 18 saves to fall to 19-12-1 on the campaign. The 24-year-old Connecticut native has dropped five of his last six decisions.
