Predators 5, Avalanche 3
Defenseman Cody Franson broke a deadlock with 2 1/2 minutes to play in the third period as the Nashville Predators extended the Colorado Avalanche's losing streak to seven games Saturday with a 5-3 home victory.
Martin Erat netted a goal and set up two others, David Legwand and Patric Hornqvist each notched a tally and an assist and captain Shea Weber also scored for the Predators, who improved to 5-1-1 in their last seven games at Bridgestone Arena.
Franson snagged a clearing attempt out of mid-air at the right point and shoveled a shot that got past Peter Budaj for his seventh goal of the season. Legwand sealed the win with an empty-netter in the final minute, with newly acquired Mike Fisher picking up an assist in his first game with Nashville.
Kevin Porter scored at 11:05 of the first period to give Colorado a lead that lasted just 11 seconds as Weber beat Budaj for his 11th goal of the season. Erat converted a power-play chance 4 1/2 minutes into the second to put Nashville ahead, but David Jones answered at 9:13 with his 19th tally.
Just 77 seconds after All-Star Matt Duchene snapped the tie at 2:54 of the third, Hornqvist knotted the contest at 3-3 with his 17th of the campaign.
Budaj made 34 saves for the Avalanche, who went winless on their four-game road trip.
