Ducks 4, Oilers 0
Bobby Ryan scored two goals and Jonas Hiller needed to make only 12 saves in his return to action as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the lifeless Edmonton Oilers, 4-0, on Sunday for their sixth straight road win.
Teemu Selanne and rookie Brandon McMillan also scored for the Ducks (32-21-4), who won for the 14th time in their last 18 games and swept a four-game road trip, including three in Western Canada.
Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf each assisted on Ryan’s goals as Anaheim moved into a first-place tie with the Dallas Stars in the Pacific Division and third in the Western Conference.
Selanne’s 623rd career goal came 34 seconds into the game when he redirected Jason Blake’s feed past Devan Dubnyk. The Ducks' second line of the 40-year-old Selanne, 37-year-old Blake and 36-year-old Saku Koivu has combined for 22 points in its last five games.
The Oilers took their first shot on goal 8:07 into the game - a soft 60-footer by defenseman Kurtis Foster - and didn’t put any consistent pressure on Hiller, who missed four games because of fatigue and lightheadedness.
Ryan’s second goal – at 1:31 of the third period – chased Dubnyk as the Oilers (16-32-8) fell to 0-6-1 in their last seven home games and lost their third straight overall. Dubnyk stopped 11 of 15 shots.
Selanne is two goals behind Joe Sakic for 14th on the career list.
