Tyler Kennedy scored 4:10 into overtime as the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins recorded a 3-2 victory to hand the reeling Colorado Avalanche their ninth straight loss on Wednesday.
Jordan Staal collected his third goal in four contests, Joe Vitale netted his first career NHL tally and defenseman Kris Letang notched a pair of assists as Pittsburgh (35-19-4) recorded its second win in six outings.
Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 29 shots to improve to 2-3-0 after winning seven straight games. The top overall pick of the 2003 draft, Fleury upped his season mark to 27-14-2.
With Pittsburgh on the power play after a tripping penalty on Kevin Porter in overtime, Kennedy collected a rebound in the left faceoff circle and wired it past Peter Budaj for his 12th goal of the season.
Chris Stewart recorded his 13th goal of the season, Cameron Gaunce scored a goal for his first career NHL point and Paul Stastny notched a pair of assists for Colorado (25-26-7), which has been outscored 38-14 during its skid.
Budaj finished with 33 saves to suffer his fifth straight setback. The 28-year-old netminder fell to 12-11-4 on the season.
