Alexander Semin scored a hat trick, including the game-winning goal with 1:47 remaining in regulation, to help the visiting Washington Capitals snap a three-game losing streak with a wild 7-6 comeback victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.
Alex Ovechkin fired his 22nd goal and added an assist and Brooks Laich, Dave Steckel, and Mike Knuble also scored for the Capitals, who trailed 3-2 after one period and 5-4 after the second session.
Michal Neuvirth made nine saves in the win after Semyon Varlamov was pulled at the first intermission, having given up three goals on nine shots.
Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf each scored and had four points, while Teemu Selanne, Toni Lydman, Lubomir Visnovsky, and Bobby Ryan also had goals for the Ducks, who had won four straight games.
Visnovsky picked up his 400th NHL point with his second-period goal.
Curtis McElhinney made 24 saves in the loss as he filled in for Jonas Hiller, who was placed on the injured reserve list for the second time since the All-Star break after experiencing dizziness.
