Coyotes 4, Thrashers 3
Martin Hanzal scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and Ilya Bryzgalov made 33 saves to lead the host Phoenix Coyotes to their seventh straight win with a 4-3 triumph over the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday.
Eric Belanger netted a shorthanded goal, captain Shane Doan and Lauri Korpikoski also tallied and All-Star defenseman Keith Yandle notched three assists for Phoenix.
Trailing 3-2 in the second period, Korpikoski tied the game with his 12th of the season at the 15:44 mark by deflecting Yandle's high shot from the point. The controversial play was deemed a good goal after a lengthy review.
Hanzal then ripped a wrist shot over Ondrej Pavelec’s shoulder for his 13th of the season with 24 seconds remaining in the period.
Rich Peverley collected a goal and two assists and Chris Thorburn and Andrew Ladd netted power-play goals, but the Thrashers couldn’t tie the game with the man advantage in the final minute of regulation.
Pavelec finished with 28 saves.
