Oilers 5, Thrashers 3

Taylor Hall scored a natural hat trick in the third period as the Edmonton Oilers rallied for a 5-3 victory over the visiting Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday afternoon.

The first overall pick in the 2010 draft erased a 3-1 deficit with a pair of power-play goals 39 seconds apart early in the third. Then, with Nik Antropov serving a tripping minor, Hall jammed the puck past Thrashers goaltender Chris Mason to complete his first career hat trick and put the capper on the Oilers' stunning comeback.

The three-goal effort gives Hall 20 on the season, good for third among NHL freshmen.

Ales Hemsky had a goal and two assists, Magnus Paajarvi also scored and Tom Gilbert added a pair of helpers in the victory.

Dustin Byfuglien, Andrew Ladd and Evander Kane replied for the Thrashers, who lost for the 14th time in the past 17 games. Byfuglien's goal was just his second in the past 18 games.
