Sharks 4, Red Wings 3
Devin Setoguchi continued his torrid pace with a pair of goals while Joe Thornton added the 300th of his career as the visiting San Jose Sharks earned a 4-3 triumph over Detroit on Tuesday, ending the Red Wings' five-game winning streak.
Fresh off his first career hat trick three nights earlier, Setoguchi broke a 2-2 tie with a goal late in the second period and extended the Sharks' advantage with 6:48 remaining in the third.
Thornton ended a prolonged slump with the milestone goal and a pair of assists and Ryane Clowe also scored as San Jose (34-21-6) improved to 9-2 in February. Thornton had recorded just five points in his previous 10 games.
Rookie Logan Couture added a pair of assists while Antti Niemi turned aside 35 shots to run his career record against Detroit to 4-1-1.
Dan Cleary countered with a pair of goals while Henrik Zetterberg added a late power-play marker for Detroit (37-17-6), which fell to 2-5-2 in its last nine meetings with the Sharks. Jimmy Howard made 39 saves in defeat.
