Blue Jackets 4, Predators 0

Captain Rick Nash scored twice and Steve Mason made 20 saves to record his third shutout of the season as the Columbus Blue Jackets earned a 4-0 victory over the visiting Nashville Predators on Tuesday.

Antoine Vermette scored and added two assists, Matt Calvert scored and Kris Russell and Fedor Tyutin chipped in a pair of assists apiece for the Blue Jackets, who tallied four times in the third period and have won four of their last five games.

Nash put Columbus on the board with his 28th of the season when he broke into Nashville’s zone on the right wing, cut hard to the net and jammed the puck past Pekka Rinne 1:11 into the third period.

Calvert jumped on a loose puck behind the net after Rinne misplayed a dump-in and tucked in his sixth of the season into the vacant goal at the 4:29 mark while Columbus was on the power play.

Vermette added some insurance just over five minutes later before Nash scored again in the final minute.

Rinne made 26 saves.
