Wild 4, Oilers 1
Pierre-Marc Bouchard recorded a goal and two assists and rookie defenseman Jared Spurgeon scored his first career goal as the Minnesota Wild skated to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.
Kyle Brodziak and All-Star Martin Havlat also tallied and Niklas Backstrom made 20 saves for the Wild, who improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight home games. Backstrom is 13-0 lifetime at home against Edmonton.
Bouchard helped set up both Brodziak's tiebreaking goal 88 seconds into the third period and Spurgeon's power-play tally five minutes later before netting a highlight-reel goal of his own with 5:27 remaining.
After receiving a pass from Cal Clutterbuck, Bouchard skated in alone on Nikolai Khabibulin before stopping at the top of the crease, spinning around and depositing a backhander into the net for his sixth goal of the season.
Former Wild defenseman Kurtis Foster scored his first goal in 33 games and Khabibulin stopped 19 shots for the Oilers, who had their three-game winning streak snapped.
