Canadiens 3, Canucks 2
Andrei Kostitsyn ended his 12-game goalless drought midway through the second period and All-Star Carey Price made 37 saves as the Montreal Canadiens halted their three-game losing streak Tuesday with a 3-2 road triumph over the league-leading Vancouver Canucks.
Rookie David Desharnais and captain Brian Gionta also scored for the Canadiens, who had lost three straight games on the road - including Sunday's Heritage Classic in Calgary - and 10 of 11 visits to Vancouver.
Mikael Samuelsson recorded a power-play goal and an assist, captain Henrik Sedin scored with the man advantage and Roberto Luongo stopped 22 shots for the Canucks, who fell to 1-1 on their six-game homestand.
With Montreal clinging to a 2-1 lead, Kostitsyn took a pass from Lars Eller and beat Luongo from close range at 10:36 of the middle session to double the advantage. The goal proved crucial as Samuelsson scored 66 seconds into the third to draw Vancouver within 3-2.
Desharnais and Gionta tallied 67 seconds apart in the first period to give the Canadiens a 2-0 bulge. Sedin halved the deficit 3 1/2 minutes into the second.
