Canadiens 4, Hurricanes 3
Andrei Kostitsyn broke a tie with 3:53 remaining in regulation and added an assist, while Alex Auld made 28 saves to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.
Mike Cammalleri and Tomas Plekanec also recorded a goal and an assist apiece, with Lars Eller adding a goal for Montreal, which had won just once over its previous five games.
Kostitsyn put the Canadiens ahead when he deflected a Roman Hamrlik point shot while Montreal was on the power play.
Jussi Jokinen opened the scoring with his 16th of the season 7:25 into the first period. But Cammalleri snapped a wrist shot into the top corner past Cam Ward before Eller added another for the Canadiens before the intermission.
Tuomo Ruutu tied the game 2-2 early in the second before Plekanec and Cory Stillman traded goals to knot the game heading into the third period. Stillman’s goal was his first since rejoining the Hurricanes on Thursday following a trade with Florida.
Ward finished with 23 saves.
