Bruins 3, Oilers 2
Michael Ryder collected a goal and an assist and Rich Peverley also tallied as the visiting Boston Bruins recorded a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday.
Nathan Horton added his 17th goal of the season and Chris Kelly chipped in an assist for the Bruins, who acquired Peverley, Kelly and defenseman Tomas Kaberle in recent trades. Boston has won three straight with its new players and five in a row overall.
Edmonton opened the scoring after Ales Hemsky beat Tuukka Rask with a wrister from the slot just 65 seconds into the first period.
Ryder responded with 4:30 remaining in the first period with his 17th goal of the season and Horton gave Boston the lead just 3:09 later. Horton wired a shot from the right faceoff circle which Devan Dubnyk to the low glove side.
It stayed that way until late in the second period. With 52 seconds remaining in the session, Peverley accepted a feed from Ryder and wristed a shot from the left faceoff circle past Dubnyk for his first goal with the Bruins.
Edmonton cut the deficit in half on Gilbert Brule’s tally in the third, but could not net the equalizer on Rask.
Rask finished with 15 saves, while Dubnyk stopped 37 shots.
