Canadiens 3, Thrashers 1
Max Pacioretty recorded a goal and an assist and All-Star Carey Price made 40 saves as the Montreal Canadiens posted their third win in four games Tuesday, a 3-1 road triumph over the Atlanta Thrashers.
Defenseman James Wisniewski and captain Brian Gionta also scored for the Canadiens, who had lost four of their previous five visits to Atlanta.
Pacioretty opened the scoring with 6:38 remaining in the first period, blasting a shot from the right point past Chris Mason for his 12th goal of the season. Wisniewski doubled the lead 34 seconds into the middle session when he pinched from the left point and converted a pass at the left side of the net during a power play.
Nik Antropov halved the deficit with 5:46 to play in the third as he redirected a slap pass past Price from the slot. Gionta sealed the win in the final minute with an empty-net goal.
Mason turned aside 20 shots for the Thrashers, who fell to 2-8-2 in their last 12 games and 1-1-1 on their five-game homestand.
