Canadiens 4, Panthers 0

Defenseman Hal Gill scored his first goal in 100 games and Carey Price made 30 saves for his seventh shutout of the season as the Montreal Canadiens skated to a 4-0 road victory over the Florida Panthers on Thursday.

Andrei Kostitsyn and Lars Eller recorded a goal and an assist apiece, rookie David Desharnais also tallied, and Travis Moen and defenseman James Wisniewski each set up two scores for the Canadiens, who have won four of their last five games.

Gill gave Price all the offensive support he needed five minutes into the first period, beating Tomas Vokoun with a slap shot from the left point for his first goal since Dec. 31, 2009. Kostitsyn netted his 16th of the season at 8:54 to double the lead and chase Vokoun, who made just one save.

Desharnais tallied five minutes into the second session and Eller capped the scoring at 3:21 of the third.

Price turned aside eight shots in the first period, 12 in the second and 10 in the third en route to his 11th career shutout.

Scott Clemmensen made 26 saves in relief for the Panthers, who have lost nine of 10 home games and seven of nine overall.
