Sabres 3, Wild 2 (OT)

Drew Stafford scored 46 seconds into overtime as the Buffalo Sabres skated to a 3-2 road triumph over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.

Jason Pominville tallied for the second straight game and Rob Niedermayer collected his first goal of the season for Buffalo (32-25-8), which moved past the idle Carolina Hurricanes (31-26-9) into sole possession of eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Since reigning Vezina Trophy winner Ryan Miller played on Saturday, Jhonas Enroth made his first start since Feb. 15 and finished with 24 saves. The 22-year-old Swede improved to 4-2-1 on the season.

In overtime, Stafford skated around defenseman Brent Burns and tucked the puck past Jose Theodore for his 26th goal of the season. Defenseman Steve Montador was credited with his second assist of the evening.

Warren Peters netted his first goal of the season with 5:47 remaining in the second period. Marek Zidlicky added a power-play goal just over three minutes later for Minnesota (34-25-7).

Theodore finished with 30 saves to suffer just his second loss in six decisions (4-1-1).
