Flames 3, Predators 2
Curtis Glencross scored to snap a tie midway into the third period as the Calgary Flames skated to a 3-2 home triumph over the Nashville Predators on Sunday.
With the victory, Calgary (35-24-9) moved into sole possession of fifth place in the ultra-competitive Western Conference. For its part, Nashville (33-24-9) remained one point behind the idle Los Angeles Kings (36-25-4) for the eighth and final postseason berth.
Captain Jarome Iginla scored on a penalty shot to secure his 10th consecutive 30-goal campaign for the Flames, who completed a regular-season sweep of the Predators. Iginla became the 10th NHL player in league history to accomplish the impressive feat.
Defenseman Mark Giordano added a power-play goal, Olli Jokinen notched a pair of assists and Miikka Kiprusoff finished with 21 saves while making his 20th consecutive start.
With the game tied at 2-2 at 10:23 of the third period, Glencross cleaned up a loose puck following Rene Bourque's shot on goal and tucked it past Pekka Rinne for his 22nd goal of the season.
Martin Erat collected a goal and an assist, defenseman Ryan Suter also tallied and David Legwand notched a pair of assists for Nashville.
Rinne turned aside 33 shots for the Predators.
