Canucks 3, Ducks 0

Manny Malhotra scored twice and Cory Schneider made 26 saves to record his first career shutout as the visiting Vancouver Canucks cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.

Daniel Sedin added his 34th goal of the season and Jannik Hansen notched a pair of assists for the Canucks, who increased their NHL-best point total to 93 - seven in front of the Eastern Conference-leading Philadelphia Flyers and Central Division-leading Detroit Red Wings.

Malhotra opened the scoring just 42 seconds into the contest with the 100th goal of his career. He accepted a feed from Hansen on a 2-on-1 break and one-timed a shot from the right faceoff circle past Dan Ellis.

Malhotra struck again 17 seconds into the second period, taking a backhanded feed from Hansen and snapping it over Ellis’ right shoulder.

Schneider was giving Roberto Luongo the night off after the All-Star netminder recorded his 300th career win on Saturday. Schneider made the most of a rare opportunity by improving to 12-3-2 and picking up the shutout in his 23rd career start.

Ellis turned aside 13 shots for Anaheim, which remained one point behind the eighth-place Los Angeles Kings in the West.
