Penguins 3, Sabres 1
James Neal, Mark Letestu and defenseman Zbynek Michalek each recorded a goal and an assist as the Pittsburgh Penguins topped the visiting Buffalo Sabres, 3-1, on Tuesday for their their first regulation win in more than a month.
All-Star Marc-Andre Fleury made 29 saves for the Penguins, who had not won in regulation since a 3-2 home triumph over the Sabres on Feb. 4. Pittsburgh improved to 3-0-2 in its last five games and extended its winning streak over Buffalo to six.
With Pittsburgh trailing 1-0, Neal forged a tie 85 seconds into the middle period with just his second goal in the last 18 games.
Neal notched an assist as Michalek ended his 91-game drought 3:17 later for a 2-1 advantage. The points were Neal's first in seven games with the Penguins since being acquired from Dallas on Feb. 21.
Letestu created some breathing room with 6:54 remaining in the third, redirecting Michalek's shot from the right point past Ryan Miller for his 12th tally.
Rob Niedermayer scored his second goal in as many contests following a 66-game drought and Miller turned aside 28 shots for the Sabres, who fell to 3-1-1 on their seven-game road trip and 5-1-2 in their last eight overall.
