Sharks 3, Predators 2 (OT)

Patrick Marleau scored at 3:24 of overtime to lift the surging San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 victory over the visiting Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.

Ryane Clowe had a goal and an assist and Justin Braun added a power-play tally to carry the Sharks to their ninth win in the last 10 games.

Antti Niemi made 23 saves as San Jose improved to 18-3-1 in its last 22 games and closed within two points of second-place Detroit in the Western Conference.

Joel Ward and Shea Weber scored power-play goals for Nashville, which suffered its seventh loss in nine games and fell to 6-19-1 in its last 26 games in San Jose.

Clowe tipped in a crossing pass at 8:17 of the first period, but Ward answered six minutes later by stuffing a shot past Niemi.

The teams traded power-play goals in the second period, with Weber lunging to punch home the tying tally less than two minutes after Braun's slapshot beat Pekka Rinne, who made 30 saves.
