Ducks 5, Rangers 2
Corey Perry collected two goals and an assist and Bobby Ryan scored a goal and set up three others as the Anaheim Ducks skated to a 5-2 victory over the visiting New York Rangers on Wednesday.
Defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky scored exactly 10 minutes apart in the first period and Dan Ellis turned aside 30 shots for Anaheim (36-26-5), which finished its seven-game homestand with a 4-2-1 mark.
The Ducks are now just two points out of eighth place in the ultra-competitive Western Conference standings. They trail the Pacific Division rival Los Angeles Kings (37-25-5) and the Phoenix Coyotes (34-23-11) for the last postseason spot.
After Perry leveled the contest at 1-1 at 7:34 of the first period, Visnovsky gave the Ducks the lead just 1:45 later.
The 34-year-old blue-liner wristed a shot from the right point which sailed past All-Star Henrik Lundqvist. Visnovsky extended the advantage 10 minutes later by skating in from just outside the right faceoff circle and wristing a shot past Lundqvist for his 14th goal of the season and fifth in three games.
Brandon Dubinsky netted his 20th goal of the season, Marian Gaborik also tallied and Lundqvist finished with 28 saves for New York (35-30-4), which saw its two-game winning streak come to an end.
