Sabres 4, Bruins 3 (OT)
Brad Boyes scored the game-winner 3:44 into overtime to lift the visiting Buffalo Sabres to a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins on Thursday in a battle of Northeast Division rivals.
Tyler Ennis collected a goal and an assist, Thomas Vanek scored on the power play and Ryan Miller turned aside 26 shots for the Sabres, who pulled into a tie for seventh place with the New York Rangers (35-30-4) in the Eastern Conference.
Boston goaltender Tim Thomas failed to control a rebound as the puck skipped to Nathan Gerbe, who lifted it up over All-Star netminder's stick to the far side of the net where the former Bruin was waiting to tap it in.
Buffalo peppered Thomas with 22 shots in the second period, sneaking two past the goaltender to knot the contest at 2-2.
The teams traded goals early in the third period. Boston claimed the lead 2:18 into the session on Gregory Campbellās 10th goal of the season, but Buffalo leveled the contest when Tim Connolly punched in his ninth of the campaign on the power play less than three minutes later.
Nathan Horton and Mark Recchi added goals for Boston, which squandered an opportunity to move into second place in the East.
