Canadiens 3, Penguins 0
Michael Cammalleri collected a goal and an assist and All-Star Carey Price turned aside 26 shots for his eighth shutout of the season as the Montreal Canadiens skated to a 3-0 road victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday afternoon.
Tomas Plekanec scored 46 seconds into the contest and Travis Moen also tallied for Montreal (38-24-7), which has won six of its last seven games. The Canadiens now trail the first-place Boston Bruins (38-21-9) by two points in the Northeast Division.
Plekanec opened the scoring 46 seconds into the contest after backhanding a shot from the slot over the glove of Marc-Andre Fleury. Cammalleri drew the lone assist on the play.
Moen doubled the advantage just 24 seconds into the second period. A turnover by All-Star defenseman Kris Letang resulted in Moen wristing a shot past Fleury from the right faceoff circle.
Cammalleri gave Montreal a three-goal cushion by wiring a shot from the slot under the right arm of Fleury just 6 1/2 minutes later.
Fleury permitted three goals on 12 shots before being relieved by Brent Johnson, who finished with eight saves for Pittsburgh (39-22-8).
