Rangers 3, Sharks 2 (SO)
Brandon Dubinsky scored the decisive goal in the sixth round of the shootout Saturday, giving the visiting New York Rangers a 3-2 triumph over the San Jose Sharks.
Erik Christensen and rookie defenseman Michael Sauer tallied in regulation and All-Star Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves for the Rangers, who have won four of their last five road games.
Ryane Clowe and Ben Eager scored, All-Star defenseman Dan Boyle notched two assists and Antti Niemi stopped 20 shots for San Jose, which went 3-1-2 on its season-high six-game homestand.
Wojtek Wolski scored for New York in the third round to extend the shootout and neither team was able to convert until Dubinsky fired the puck between Niemi's pads, clinching the Rangers' sixth win in nine meetings with the Sharks.
Clowe put San Jose in front with 7 1/2 minutes remaining in the first period, beating Lundqvist from above the right faceoff circle during a power play for his 22nd goal of the season and fourth in three games.
New York pulled even 4:27 later on Christensen's 10th tally and took a 2-1 lead 76 seconds into the second period as Sauer scored his second of the season. The Sharks forged another tie when Eager deflected Torrey Mitchell's slap shot past Lundqvist with 3:34 left in the session.
