Bruins 3, Blue Jackets 2 (SO)
Rich Peverley scored a shorthanded goal with 5:36 remaining in the third period and rookie Tyler Seguin netted the lone tally of the shootout as the Boston Bruins ended their four-game losing streak Tuesday with a 3-2 road victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
David Krejci also scored and Tuukka Rask made 34 saves for the Northeast Division-leading Bruins, who are 1-1 on their four-game road trip.
Defenseman Grant Clitsome and Scottie Upshall tallied while Steve Mason turned aside 27 shots for Columbus, which has lost eight of its last nine games.
After Upshall snapped a 1-1 tie with 7:41 to play in the third with his career-high 20th goal, the Bruins answered just 2:05 later. Peverley pounced on a turnover in his own zone, raced down the ice and around defenseman Fedor Tyutin before stuffing the puck past Mason for his 16th tally.
Seguin converted his first-round shootout attempt for Boston, and Rask forced both Tyutin and Upshall to shoot wide, clinching the win.
Columbus got on the board with 53 seconds remaining in the first period when Clitsome beat Rask with a blast from the blue line. Boston drew even at 12:20 of the second as Krejci extended his point streak to six games with his 11th goal.
