Rangers 1, Bruins 0

Henrik Lundqvist recorded his league-leading 11th shutout of the season and Derek Stepan's first-period goal provided the lone offense as the New York Rangers blanked the host Boston Bruins 1-0 Saturday afternoon.

Lundqvist made 26 saves to keep the Bruins at bay as the Rangers (41-30-5) improved to 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. The win also moved New York into a sixth-place tie with Montreal in the Eastern Conference playoff race, two points clear of eighth-place Buffalo.

Stepan's 20th goal of the season was all Lundqvist and the Rangers needed. The rookie forward redirected a point shot by Michael Sauer past Bruins netminder Tuukka Rask at 6:39 of the first period, and the Rangers held on from there.

Rask stopped 22 shots in defeat as Boston (41-23-10) lost for the first time in three games.
