Sharks 4, Coyotes 1
Rookie Logan Couture had two goals and an assist while Ryane Clowe added a tally and two assists as the San Jose Sharks extended their winning streak over the Phoenix Coyotes to eight games Saturday with a 4-1 road victory.
Joe Pavelski also scored and Antti Niemi made 26 saves in his 31st consecutive start for the Sharks (44-23-9), who improved to 5-0-1 in their last six games and extended their lead over the Coyotes (41-25-11) in the Pacific Division to four points.
Mikkel Boedker scored and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 28 shots for Phoenix, which fell to 2-2 on its season-high six-game homestand and lost in regulation for only the second time in its last 11 overall (8-2-1).
Couture opened the scoring at 5:06 of the first period and Boedker forged a 1-1 tie just 77 seconds later. Pavelski put San Jose ahead for good at 3:35 of the second when he knocked in a rebound from the right side of the crease for his fifth goal during his seven-game point streak.
Clowe doubled the lead when he beat Bryzgalov from the high slot with 4:43 remaining in the second.
