Blackhawks 3, Red Wings 2 (OT)

Marian Hossa scored a power-play goal 51 seconds into overtime to give the visiting Chicago Blackhawks a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Monday.

Chicago (41-26-8) took a three-point lead over ninth-place Calgary as it solidified its playoff position in the Western Conference.

Detroit (44-22-10) moved one point ahead of San Jose for second in the West.

The Blackhawks opened the scoring at 2:54 of the first period on a goal by Jonathan Toews. Niklas Lidstrom tied it at 7:36 before Brent Seabrook's power-play goal at 13:18 restored Chicago’s lead.

Detroit forward Henrik Zetterberg tied the score early in the third period before his hooking penalty with four seconds left in regulation set up the power play and Hossa’s winner.

Corey Crawford made 33 saves for Chicago, while Joey MacDonald stopped 38 shots for the Red Wings. MacDonald started in favor of Jimmy Howard, who injured his shoulder Saturday against Toronto.

Red Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi received a game misconduct for elbowing Ryan Johnson at 5:17 of the first period. Johnson went to the dressing room, but returned midway through the first period.
