Bruins 3, Flames 1
Milan Lucic scored two goals and Tim Thomas made 28 saves as the visiting Boston Bruins defeated the Calgary Flames, 3-1, on Tuesday night.
Rookie Brad Marchand also scored and David Krejci added two assists for the Bruins, who won a third straight game on their current road trip while putting an end to Calgary’s three-game winning streak.
Lucic opened the scoring just 59 seconds into the game when he deflected a beautiful slap-pass from Krejci for his 25th goal of the season.
After a scoreless second session, Marchand tallied his 19th goal at 5:55 of the third by firing a rebound past Miikka Kiprusoff from the right face-off dot.
Curtis Glencross broke Thomas’ shutout bid and extended his points streak to eight games at the 17:27 mark while Calgary was on the power play with his 20th of the season. But Lucic added an empty-net goal in the final minute of regulation to put away the game.
Kiprusoff made 26 saves.
