Bruins 4, Canadiens 2

Rich Peverley scored early in the second period and Tim Thomas turned aside 34 shots as the Boston Bruins skated to a 4-2 road victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Monday in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

David Krejci and Nathan Horton scored first-period goals and Chris Kelly added an empty-net tally for Northeast Division champion Boston, which still trails in the series, 2-1. Game 4 is Thursday in Montreal.

Captain Zdeno Chara returned after missing Game 2 due to dehydration and was credited with an assist on Horton's tally.

With Boston leading 2-0 after the first 20 minutes, Peverley extended the cushion by taking advantage of a Carey Price turnover to net his first career playoff goal just 2:02 into the second period.

Andrei Kostitsyn scored five minutes later, Tomas Plekanec also tallied and Michael Cammalleri notched a pair of assists for seventh-seeded Montreal.

Price settled down after a tough start to finish with 21 saves in a losing effort.
